We the undersigned petition to reverse the 30kmph imposed on Dublin city centre More details

It is my belief that the new 30kmph speed limit in Dublin City Centre will not save one life. I believe it has been enacted in order to generate revenue from fines, promote the use of the bicycle and public transport and to undermine the motorist. It will serve to infuriate car users and will get many of us penalty points. If you agree I would be grateful if you would sign my petition. Incidentally, the leading causes of road deaths on Irish roads are speeding, drunk driving and inexperienced drivers. Most fatalities occur on rural roads where speed limits are poorly supervised. While great inroads have been made in the last few years into reducing road deaths, I feel the government would be better off focusing their energies on these areas rather than introducing a farcical speed limit in Dublin city centre. Thank you for your time.
